Chatpata Aloo Chaat

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled, peeled, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
  • Rock salt (sendha namak), to taste
  • Tamarind chutney (optional, ensure it's suitable for fasting)

Instructions:

  1. 1. Heat ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. 2. Add cumin seeds to the hot oil and let them splutter.
  3. 3. Add diced potatoes to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  4. 4. Sprinkle red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, and black salt over the potatoes. Mix well to coat evenly.
  5. 5. Add chopped green chili and continue to sauté for another minute to infuse flavors.
  6. 6. Turn off the heat and transfer the spicy potatoes to a serving bowl.
  7. 7. Drizzle lemon juice over the potatoes and toss gently to combine.
  8. 8. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  9. 9. Sprinkle some rock salt (sendha namak) on top for additional flavor if needed.
  10. 10. Serve the spicy Aloo Chaat immediately as a delicious snack or side dish during Navratri fasting.
  11. Optionally, you can drizzle some tamarind chutney on top for extra tanginess.
